Community Heart

Opportunities for Students

Community involvement is fundamental to every Modus development, and in March 2006, Modus officially launched the Community Heart project. This was created to support and improve the communities in which Modus work. The Community Heart team recognise the importance of connecting with local people and providing them with an opportunity to come together in one community based location. Modus wants to help to make people feel proud of the village, town or city in which they live.

Education is a key aspect of the Community Heart project and Modus aims to pass on information about the development process, as well as encourage people to learn new skills. Projects include time capsule burials, archaeological digs on site, school visits as well as art and design exercises.

At each of the developments, Modus incorporates a ‘Community Space’ which is designed specifically for community use. The company likes to encourage community groups, charities or schools to use the space for their group activities and events are also held to encourage the surrounding communities to come together.

Also, 1% of any profits which are made through a town centre development is given back to assist local projects and groups
